Learn the intimate art of woodcarving.  The course welcomes beginners and those with some experience. The aim of this course is to complete a relief carving in Limewood, Cedar of Lebanon or Horse chestnut in 1 day.

Technique- Direct Carving: this style of carving does not require clay models; you may work from a simple sketch inspired by primitive, tribal or medieval sources.
The carving may take the form of a stylised head or animal, bird, flower, plant or an abstract shape or pattern for your home or your garden. The course will provide opportunities for you to develop an awareness of the design process and an understanding of wood, woodcarving techniques and woodcarving tools.

All tools will be provided for the duration of the course.
Please wear comfortable clothing and substantial footwear.
You may require sunglasses and a sun hat if the weather is sunny. There will be an opportunity to work outside if preferred.

*The cost of the wood is not included, but is available to buy from the tutor at cost.
